A flexible and professional service which supports people with additional needs
A personal assistant (PA) is someone who helps a person who needs care, or help to perform their daily living tasks, in their own home. The PA must be reliable, have patience and empathy and have an understanding of the person’s care needs. The role can include helping with tasks such as cleaning, cooking and shopping or assisting with more personal care such as bathing and dressing. Some roles may require special nursing skills and the ability to teach someone how to be more independent is also important.
For many of us, having control of our care is vital to retaining our independence and enables us to continue living at home as we get older. Many people paying for their care or having direct funding from the local authorities to pay for their care are choosing to hire personal assistants to support them.
This service has been launched to help you make the most of your care support and to take the worry out of making important decisions about your day-to-day life.
“We’ve had a great experience with PA Choices. The two ladies who looked after my mum were amazing with her. They accompanied her to appointments, took her shopping, joined in her art classes and dementia-friendly activities. As her Alzheimer’s got worse, they were both flexible and adaptable, responding to her everyday needs. Most importantly, they knew how to put her at ease and make her laugh and smile. Couldn’t have asked for more.”
